I am a volunteer for an animal rescue group called AFRP.  They take animals who are adoptable but at risk of euthanasia in shelters, and keep them until they are adopted. I got an e-mail from the group asking for someone to take a cat out of Petsmart and put her in foster care as she had been there for months and is severaly depressed.(she just lies curled up in a ball)  I can't foster, I'm not allowed to have pets and am deeply allergic to cats (dogs and horses, so of course I love cats, dogs and horses)  But my mother can. so we are off to get smithers this morning.  You can see her here http://www.animalfriendsrescue.org/available/catsavailable.html  she's in the middle of row 20.

if she gets along with Boo (my icon) Mom will probably adopt her.

I hope so too, we are assuming (unless Boo's reaction is really bad) that it is. So far he's only hissed at her once and it's only day three so Mom is taking it slow with the introductions. Smither's doesn't seem fazed at all (but she just spent five months in a cage and now she's got her own room. So she's a very happy camper, eating playing watching birds and demanding affection)

We've always gotten rescue cats (and dogs) and we've never regretted it, every experience seems to prove the old adage that "strays make the best pets" as William Powell said in Our Man Godfrey.

I should have the first cuddy-fest fic to you soon. So sorry it's taken so long. I'm asking for an extension on fic two, if you end up not having time to look at it b4 sunday don't worry. I'll post and then incorporate, your comments/changes/etc when I get them (because I still want them if it's not too much trouble)

All of our pets are also rescue animals. Our dogs live in the house, and the detached garage has been converted into a "cat house" where Lola, Peanut Butter, and Batleigh live. We also have one cat, Ninja, who lives in the house (b/c she's smart enough not to pick fights with the dogs, whereas the others are not). We are way beyond full capacity, though, so I've asked everyone to please not bring me any more strays for the foreseeable future.

I'll be happy to look at your fic as soon as you're ready to send it to me. :)
